■ Biog: Kaoru Kuwata, Acting Coach/Alexander Technique/Movement /Movement Direction

Hello, everyone! Thank you for visiting my Blog.

I’m an Acting Coach/STAT certified Alexander Teacher/Movement tutor/Drama School teacher/University tutor, currently based in Tokyo, Japan.

Having background in Classical Ballet and Piano training as a child, I’ve had my Actor Training at Act Aoyama Dramatic School since I was 17 years old, and graduated Toho Gakuen Art College for Drama and Music.

That’s when I moved to London, to study Drama and Theatre Arts, from scratch, again, from different perspectives with balanced amount of practice and academic studies.

Having graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London in , I extended my field of Studies at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, London, where I’ve obtained my Master Degree in Movement Studies.

In prior to my Master Degree, I’ve completed my Alexander teacher training (approved by STAT) in 2003 in London, and has since taught Alexander Technique and Movement for both student actors and professionals in many drama and music colleges, theatre companies and arts universities.

I’m currently teaching in Japan at Shobi University, New National Theatre Opera studio, Seinenza Theatre company Drama school, as well as giving private lessons, actor training classes, and workshops for various performers.

I have also translated Alexander’s ‘The Use of the Self’ into Japanese for the first time in 2010. (Publisher: Banseishobo)

On going project includes, many series of workshops on Laban Effort, Movement Fundamentals, Movement Expressions, Text Analysis for Acting and Acting Coaching for students and professional actors.
